UNDERGRADUATE WRITING:
1. Best Research Paper (open topic)
• Written for a UNT undergraduate Spanish class between 2016 and 2019
• 4-7 pages, double space, Times New Roman font size 12, paginated with title
• MLA or APA style documentation must be used
• Students must be a current Spanish minor or major
• $100.00 prize
2. Best Poetry
• 5-10 poems on any topic, free style and any length
• May be a class assignment or personal writing
• Students must be a current Spanish minor or major
• $100.00 prize
3. Best Prose
• May be a short story, essay, travel vignette, autobiography, etc. on any topic
• Length: 1000-1500 words (double space, paginated)
• May be a class assignment or personal writing
• Students must be a current Spanish minor or major
• $100.00 prize
GRADUATE WRITING:

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Submissions may be sent in up to two categories (research paper, poetry, prose).
2. Only the following kinds of electronic submissions sent from a UNT email will be accepted:
a. Word Document 1: undergraduate/graduate research paper, poetry or prose. Do not include name or
other personal information on this document. However, in the category of research
paper, the
following information must be included in the document itself: class, semester, year,
and Spanish
instructor for whom it was written and word count. Send one document per category
chosen (e.g. one
for research paper and one for poetry).
b. Word Document 2: full name, UNT ID #, Spanish major, minor, or graduate student (choose one) and
UNT email (other emails will not be accepted).
3. Send submissions to Linda Mckeiver by March 6, 2020 at Linda.Mckeiver@unt.edu
4. Entries not following submission guidelines will be disqualified
Winners will be notified during spring semester 2020 and recognized at the Department
of Spanish
Student Awards ceremony on April 10, 2020. Monetary awards will be applied to awardees'
accounts as
scholarships.
